The Carob tree is native to the Mediterranean region and Asia. it was surprising to find it in Eastern Australia as well.


Carob has excellent nutritional value. It contains Magnesium, Calcium, Iron, Potassium and the vitamins A, B, B2 (very important for the vegetarians) and D.


The major food source derived from Carob is from the ground pod, which forms a high protein powder that can be a very goos substitute for cocoa powder.
